life moves pretty quickly...

...if you don't stop and look around every once in a while you might miss it...

this is true, even in rome.

i can't decide if the semester is flying by and or dragging along considering everything seems to be happening so fast, but then again I feel like I've been in this city forever even though it's only been three weeks... craziness.

people keep asking me if i'm doing any traveling... well... the answer is yes...

three weekends ago i went to florence...
that's me in front of the ponto vecchio

two weekends ago, i went to santa margherita and portofino which are sea side towns in the north of italy...

last weekend... i was in venice...

this up coming weekend i am going to be meeting my parents in capri and then we are going to go to pompeii for the day and then they will be in rome for a week... yay mom and dad!

future travel plans include, another trip to florence and siena, a trip to milan, spain - madrid, barcelona and seville and possible excursions to stockholm, munich, copenhagen and interlocken... haha hopefully i can get it together...

life is good. i never though i'd say i was getting sick of italian food, but if i see any more ham and cheese i might cry... i'll write more soon... send me emails... love, linds

the sun is up... the sky is blue...

September 10th is Joshua Stephen Passman's 23rd birthday.

i wish i was there to celebrate with you.

you are absolutely amazing, and i could not be luckier.

thank you for everything...

love, lindsey brianne

apparently i have to go to class...

so classes have begun...

fun times over here at temple univerity in rome. I am taking four classes...

class one: Project the Past. This course is a history/film/classics class that studies how ancient rome is portrayed in cinema and what that says about the roman culture of the past and also what it says about american and current day italian culture for choosing this as their subject matter. very interesting. i like film. good times.

class two: Italian Conversation and Composition. this is like 5th semester italian... obviously i am in over my head. but my professor is pretty cool and i'm for sure not the worst one in the class... score... and also my italian could for sure improve.

class three: The History of Italian Design. not sure how i feel about this one yet. we take a field trip to milan though so that should be cool. can't tell how i feel about the teacher. or the subject matter..... but we go to milan. haha.

class four: Early Renaissance Art History. We take a field trip to Florence and Siena. also every week we take a field trip around rome. My professor is a very cute little man with a british accent who was born in america and is obviously totally fluent in italian. i'm a big fan.

soooo that's life in the class room.

the apartment is fabulous. i'm settling in. i can't believe i've only been in rome for like a week and half.. maybe it was all the traveling beforehand... but it just feels so long... craziness.

mom and dad come in two weeks!! score.

andddd the coolest kid i know has a birthday in two days... ya 23. how old are you? hahah....

much love, lindsey

klaire9: ps update your blog biotch!

yeahhhh... so i've been slacking on the updates...

basically, to break it down: Rome is absolutely incredible. I read somewhere that the best thing you can learn from the Roman people is their ability to enjoy the beauty of life... ok cheesy, but life here really is beautiful. La vita e bella. I love getting lost on random side streets and wandering into coffee shops and gelaterias... there is so much to do, I'm already kind of stressing about not having enough time to do it all, but by stressing i mean I'm just trying to enjoy the moments for what they are. the secret to life is for sure enjoying the passing of time - yay for the james taylor song from my bat miztvah video. but it's true. it's always true. no matter how good... or how bad... this too shall pass.

it's very hard to be here with all the turmoil going on at home in new orleans. seriously, it's so weird to feel so disconnected and be watching life in parts of america completely fall apart... i've been watching video clips on cnn.com every day... it's beyond words. it's frustrating... it's infuriating... and it's heart breaking...

today is my first day of classes... but not until 6 pm. i'm off to explore the roman ruins...

more soon... linds
